Description
Evidence of the village's existence dates from the start of the 13th century : the Franks cartulary makes reference to it in 1222. According to some, Aveizieux was the homeland of Baldomer (Saint-Galmier) and the residents of Aveizieux have installed the statue of Saint-Galmier, along with that of Saint-Léger, the parish's patron saint after Saint-André, at the entrance to the church, on each side of the portal. The history of the commune is closely linked to that of soft furnishings. Residences belonging to soft furnishings' manufacturers line the D11 main road and, today, they form part of the commune's architectural heritage.
