Situated on the former N 89 main road from Lyons to Montbrison, the village of Bellegarde en-Forez owes its name to the privileged position it occupies at the mouth of the Anzieux valley.
Description
A curious low chapel was built there on a mound overlooking the Anzieux valley and the hamlet of Charaites: Saint-Pierre de Montmeyn. A major figure of history was born in 1759 in Bellegarde-en-Forez : Claude Javogue, a famous revolutionary. The door of the house where he was born is listed.
